How can I skate the Bitcoin Bowl?

The Bitcoin Bowl is open to the public, free of charge. You can walk in and skate the bowl at any time, during The Surfer Kids’ normal operating hours.

The following important information should be also be noted:

👉🏾 The bowl is situated on The Surfer Kids’ premises and belongs to The Surfer Kids. Its primary purpose is use by the (approximately) 50 children who attend The Surfer Kids’ daily program. As such, public participation will fall in line with The Surfer Kids daily program, as determined by the The Surfer Kids Coaches.

👉🏾 Simply put, this means that, if you show up, and there’s 20 children skating the bowl, you’ll have to wait your turn.

👉🏾 If you’d like to book exclusive access and guarantee that you get to skate the bowl when you show up, it’s recommended that you make a booking. See WhatsApp booking details further down this page.

👉🏾 Furthermore, this is not a skateboarding school. We do not offer skateboarding lessons to the public. Skateboarders and parents of skateboarders must understand that they will be skating unassisted.

👉🏾 We will NOT allow skateboarders to skate the bowl if it is clear that their skill level is not at the required level. We have an entry-level training ramp where skaters can practice, until they have acquired the necessary skills to skate the bowl.

👉🏾 We do not provide (or rent) skateboards or protective gear. Each skateboarder is responsible for bringing their own equipment.

👉🏾 ALL skateboarders MUST sign an indemnity. No exceptions.

👉🏾 It is also very important to understand that this is NOT a public facility. Access is reserved and will only be allowed if skateboarders follow the rules. If skateboarders do not follow the rules, The Surfer Kids coaches reserve the right to deny entry.

School field trips & excursions!

We offer group field trip visit / excursions for schools. Ask your teacher or principal to get in touch via the WhatsApp number at the top of the page and book a field trip for your school!

School field trips are offered free of charge, schools don’t pay, but donations are always welcome!

More Important Information

The Bitcoin Bowl was constructed through a fundraising effort coordinated entirely by The Surfer Kids & Bitcoin Ekasi. Responsibility of the bowl remains entirely in the hands of The Surfer Kids & BItcoin Ekasi’s Board of Trustees, and it is at their sole discretion that access to and use of the bowl is granted.

No public funds were used in the construction of this project.The project was entirely funded by Block, Inc., a company belonging to Twitter Co-founder, Jack Dorsey. As per the donor’s requirements, the bowl was constructed specifically for The Surfer Kids Non-profit, for use by the children recruited into its existing daily program.

The Bitcoin Bowl was not constructed for the public.The decision was however made to open it to the public at selected times only, to benefit as many people as possible. However, for simple logistical reasons, this can only be done at times that fit with The Surfer Kids existing daily program.

More Important Information (cont.)

Neither The Surfer Kids or Bitcoin Ekasi offer skateboarding lessons to the public. Skateboarders are expected to already have acquired the necessary skills to skate a bowl of this level safely.

All participants and spectators (anyone entering the Bitcoin Bowl area) must complete an indemnity form upon arrival. Those under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to sign the form. Additionally, for participants under 12, the parent or legal guardian is required to stay on-site for the duration of the session.

All skaters under the age of 18 must wear full protective gear, including a helmet, wrist guards, elbow pads, knee pads, and skate shoes. While it is strongly advised for those over 18 to also wear full protective gear, they may choose to skate without it at their own discretion and risk.
