Watch Bitcoin Ekasi’s Project Community Lead Luthando Ndabambi talk about his journey with Bitcoin:
Of South Africa’s approximately 60 million people, 8 million people speak Xhosa as their first language and another 11 million as a second language.
Xhosa is the most widely spoken language in the township community we’re focused on and the second most widely spoken language in South Africa.
The most widely spoken language in South Africa is Zulu. More than half of the South African population can understand Zulu with over 9 million first-language and over 15 million second-language speakers.
There are more than four million first-language Sesotho speakers in South Africa – approximately eight per cent of the population. Sesotho is also the main language spoken by the people of Lesotho, with about 1.5 million first-language speakers, or 85% of the population.
